Construction on the SH 133 Carbondale Safety Improvements Project began May 27, 2014, and is scheduled to be completed by mid-November 2014. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Scheduled work is dependent on weather and workload.
Please use caution and stay alert while traveling through the construction zone. Follow flaggers’ directions and reduced posted speed limits.
Thank you for your patience as our Project Team continues to work on safety and access improvements.
Beginning Monday, October 13:
- There will be crosswalk construction at the intersection of SH 133, Meadowood Drive and Crystal Bridge Drive until Friday, October 17. Crystal Bridge Drive access will be completely closed from SH 133, while Meadowood Drive and SH 133 will be narrowed. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
- Main access to the City Market Shopping Center from SH 133 will be closed for the construction of a new access and roadway. The alternate access is West Main Street to Hendrick Drive
Paving operations will take place on SH 133 between Cowen Drive and ET Plaza. Motorists should exercise caution and expect delays and heavy truck traffic. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
Paving operations on the east side trail will begin Thursday, October 16. Motorists should expect delays and heavy truck traffic.
Late next week, crosswalk construction will take place throughout the project, beginning at the intersections of Snowmass Drive and SH 133, and Hendrick Drive and SH 133. While the highway will be narrowed during this time, two-way traffic will be maintained.
Minor, localized delays are expected for motorists and pedestrians throughout the week as there will be paving operations for construction of side-road accesses.
Roadway construction will continue on SH 133 between ET Plaza and Garfield Avenue. Motorists should expect moderate delays. Access for pedestrians will be maintained and detours will be marked to help pedestrians avoid moderate delays.
There will be irrigation work along the west side trail between Dolores Way and Main Street next week. Pedestrian access will be maintained, but impacted.
